Laura has been taking classes with me for several years. She enjoys painting and drawing so much she comes twice a week. She had never done any type of artwork before taking my classes. Making time to create on a regular basis is the key to improving as an artist. Can’t wait to see this mermaid finished. Check back soon!
My students were hard at work this evening. Everyone is working on their own project, at their own pace. Some are just beginning and some have been involved with art for many years. All are having fun. Why not join us? Classes meet on Mondays from 5-6pm, Tuesdays from 1-3pm and Tuesdays from 6-8pm. Most of your materials are included in the low price of $25 (if paid in advance). Come once a month or once a week, whatever fits your budget and schedule. Call me at 336-460-1411 or email firstname.lastname@example.org now to schedule your first class!
Here is another collage I finished. I’ve included some progress shots as well. I started with some monotype on paper. Added some collage, then layered acrylic paint. More collage and paint. Then the final calligraphic lines and dots.
This is my newest student, Sierra. She has been drawing Anime for several years, but never used shading or color. Here she is holding her very first colored pencil drawing. Well done Sierra!
Now that I have mostly recovered from foot surgery and can stand for short periods, I have gotten back into the studio. Here are two new collages I am working on as part of a series of studies for larger works. I am starting with some monotype layers, adding paint and collage, then more layers of paint and collage. Look closely to see the very first layers!

Only two more week to visit my show at the Mebane Arts and Community Center Exhibit in Mebane, NC. Quite a few new pieces are on display along with some of my monotypes.
I will be having a show at a restaurant called Harrison’s in Burlington NC this October. I am excited that my cousin Leigh Holt will be exhibiting with me. Here is the show information. Hope you can make it!
Just one week left before my monotype workshop on Sat. July 19. I still have a few spots left. This is one of my most popular workshops and requires no drawing skill. Visit this link for more information!
